Dydimo Algae
- For some time now it is recommended not to bring used fishing equipment to Patagonia in order to avoid the introduction of invasive and potentially risky microorganisms like the whirling disease, New Zealand mud snails and Dydimo Algae. In spite of this, the presence of Dydimo Algae has been detected in Chile as well as in some Argentine basins which flow into the Pacific Ocean. This has led to the implementation of a contingency plan in order to confine the micro-algae and avoid its spreading, by the Office of Continental Fishing of the Province of Chubut. In this context, Sendero Lodge has taken two fundamental measures to help fulfill that goal and to raise awareness in fishermen. On the one hand we can provide our customers with complete fishing equipment: rods, lines, reels, waders, boots and even flies! In this way they can use our equipment, avoiding the transportation of their own. On the other hand we have our own biologically hygienic cleaning equipment for equipment, clothing and boats to help the infrastructure already set up for that purpose.
